Some PPS Ping post titles also sucks!

This is something that I wanted to highlight for some time now

Shaolin Tiger spoke on how the quality of content on PPS has dropped dramatically couple days ago. Well, I can’t comment on that really because definition and acceptable level of quality differs from one to another.

But what I noticed from the PPS pings lately is there are some increasing number of pings that…well…has this really “selfish” blog titles. If you don’t get what I am saying, just have a look at some of examples:-

I understand you have a good point to make and you want a “dramatic” title to pull readers to your blog but whilst you are doing that, it will be great if you could keep it short and simple. If we want to read your story further, we will definitely click on the link. But allowing your title post to take up 5 lines in a public domain is a bit selfish, don’t you think?

But then again, I could be wrong here…maybe long titles were not intended in the first place or some bloggers just do not know how and what to put at the “Post / Article Title” field when they are pinging or some are doing auto pinging so the long titles are inevitably shown in PPS. Further, PPS just mentions “256 characters” & there is no further instruction.

Hey, by all means it did not restrict a very long title post (as long as it is within 256 characters) right? That means it should not stop me from pinging PPS with the following title for this post:-

CLICK AND READ HERE! IN VIEW OF SHAOLIN TIGER’S POST ON PPS PING QUALITY, MY THOUGHTS ON THE ISSUE IS THAT SOME OF THE PPS PING TITLES FROM WHAT I SEE LATELY ALSO SUCKS! READ TO SEE SOME REAL EXAMPLES FROM PPS PING AND WHAT i THINK SHOULD BE DONE

There you go…not more than 256 characters. How’s that for a PPS Ping post title? But keep in mind this – long titles is NO different from the dreaded multiple pings because it has the same effect – it occupies unnecessary space in PPS.

The rule of the thumb is to make it short and effective. Probably by this, we can slowly improve the quality of PPS Pings until PPS version 2.0 is up and running.

Until then, Shaolin Tiger has a good point there…

  1. Yeah, I know. Hate that guy who pinged with ALL CAPITAL LETTER LIKE THIS. Isn’t it annoying that they are like shouting at you to read their post? I never ever clicked that.

Oh, btw, he just pinged before you.
