Malaysia 101: Encouraging Scots Free Culture

This is Malaysia in case you have missed it…

In Malaysia, it is almost easy to do something derogatory and get away scots free quite easily – unless of you if you are blogger or the oppositions. It is evident from this report:-

It obviously pays to hurl racial abuse at students, going by what happened to the teacher who did so at a school here.

The 35-year-old history teacher from SM Telok Panglima Garang was not only transferred to a smart school but to one located nearer her house. To add insult to injury, no disciplinary action was taken against her.

It is understood that her letter of transfer stated that she was being transferred due to concerns for her security and not because she had committed an offence.

What an interesting reward from the Barisan Nasional Government!

(Not the kind of role-models that we want to impose on young minds. Image source: http://alicebag.com)

But this time I have to agree with MIC Youth that the teacher should not be let off so easily, not after she have made unnecessary remarks against students (young minds with bright future ahead).

It is not everyday one can call the young students ‘keling pariah’, ‘Negro’ and ‘black monkeys’ and end up being rewarded with better school and nearer to the house.

MIC’s S.Murugesan posted this in his blog:-

Subsequent to the exposure, other political big guns descended on the issue and attempted to settle the matter with a handshake.

That’s the Malaysian spirit! Settle a matter with a handshake… or are we sweeping dirt under the carpet?

Here is a teacher who has been entrusted to educate and nurture our children to be good citizens. She is not an ordinary lady, sorry, woman that we bumped into at the pasar malam and shouted racial abuses at us. She is a teacher. A role model. Paid salary with the tax-payers money. Our money.

Will the teacher be charged under Seditious Act? Will the PM take action against the teacher under the pretext of threatening the country’s harmony?

Another reason why we need a new Government!
