Have a read of the reaction on Zaid Ibrahim’s comments that Ketuanan Melayu (The Malay Supremacy) have failed. I was not surprised – what else you expect from politicians from UMNO.
“Zaid should repent. Otherwise, he should get out of the ’rumpun Melayu’ (Malay grouping),”
While another snorted:-
Zaid’s statement showed that the latter was a traitor to his own race and he should apologise for his remarks.
Interestingly, no one (other than the opposition) resorted to understand what Zaid Ibrahim was trying to say. The concept of “Ketuanan Melayu” to many, means different things and at different times.
To non-Malays and Malays who have long realised the truth, that concept is nothing but a mirage, maya or a scam – designed to keep a particular race forever undeveloped whilst keeping others at an artificial disadvantage and in the process, enriching a few.
Those who uttered the condemning words against Zaid Ibrahim are neither saints nor idealists but mere politicians intending to score cheap points with their politicial party. Sometimes it is easy to forget who is the real traitor – the one who concoct a dying concept to continue to milk the richness of the nation and further disunite Malaysians or the one who throws out extremist concept and get down to the real business and putting the country on track on idealism.
