Whenever the Government announces huge bailouts, 2 things are certain on everyone’s mind:-
ONE: It does not matter if it is cash, guarantee or promises on paper, one way or another, at the end of the day, taxpayers will be forced to bear the cost of the bailout. Taxpayers money that could have been used more productively for development of the country now goes down the drain.
TWO: Not all of the board of directors, management and senior officers who mismanaged the company will be arrested, stripped naked of their assets and sent to jail for years. At the most, some of them may be asked to tender their resignation without any punishment and some of them will be transferred to another GLC. And since there is no severe punishment given, the incompetence and mismanagement continues.
More interesting things especially on democracy and Malaysia are taking place on social media and in late nights when I do have the time, I usually spent it on surfing through Facebook instead of writing a post for the blog. Another is that I have gone “back to school” and I managed to get one of the certificate that I targeted to get this year. Unfortunately it is just a start and I have another target to meet in the next few months. So, it is back to doing revisions and the dreaded homework in the coming months. Image: Pinterest
And times are tough and times are not right for one to simply sit back and take things easy. Work too have been piling up over the last few months and the expectations from both in and out of the organisation have been very, very demanding.
(1MDB: A 42 billion time bomb that had already exploded on everyone’s face but a lot of people in this country are not aware of the blast – no thanks to a sneaky fat guy and a clueless PM. Until today, I am lost why they put billions of taxpayers money in Cayman Island unless it is meant for some shady deal. Infographic source: http://poskod.my/cheat-sheets/10-things-know-1mdb/)
(Never mind the movie, it seems like there are way too many of dumb people in this country. Image source: The Net)
It was rather “funny” to hear the old man to say this:-
“Malaysians are stupid. They don’t know how to manage aviation,” Dr Mahathir was quoted by news portal Malaysiakini as saying in comments over Christoph Mueller’s appointment as chief executive officer-designate of Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAS NewCo).
Those responsible for the losses of the ailing national carrier were now trying to make things right, he said.
(Among the many funny things posted on Najib’s statement that the price of kangkung had gone down, this stands in my mind as the funniest bit. I just love Ronald’s face on the second photo – it looks like he had answered too many phone calls asking for McKangkung. Images source: Facebook)
(The old palace is already looking majestic and we have already spent millions on it but we went ahead to construct a new palace. We end up looking like dungus but what the heck, we been in that situation before. The new palace looks good on paper but the volume of abuse and mismanagement of funds to build it makes the whole affair end up looking too ugly. Image source: Tok Ey Ai)
Things seems to be heating up for some seasoned politicians…
RPK has been talking a lot about Samy Vellu and how Indians got screwed in Malaysia Today – here and here (nothing fancy and much revolves around the well known Maika & MIED scandals). The “latest” evidence to surface is not so new – it was given to ACA way back in 1994 and they did nothing.… [Click to read the rest] “Politician’s Petty Cash”
It was already a tragedy that MACC is yet to become a corruption buster that all Malaysians can be proud of (despite the change of name from the old ACA) but the “toothless” ones are in the limelight again and it looks like they are in for the wrong reasons!
