One of the biggest challenges in making a movie that is based on epic bestselling novels like JRR Tolkien’s The Lord of The Rings and now Kalki’s Ponniyin Selvan is in bringing the movie’s storyline as close to the actual event or the novel and yet taking care to make it as excited as possible despite the storyline is predictable. After watching one of the worst movies of the year for 2022, I had higher expectations of the latest Kamal Haasan movie, Vikram written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj who also did the excellent Kaithi which I rated the best movie of 2019. Another reason for the high expectation is that it is a Kamal Haasan movie which means perfection from the master himself. Poster source: IMDB.
Every movie regardless it is romantic, action, war or comedy, there must be a sense of good storyline and when it comes to action or war, there must be a good use of tactics. If it involves the military, then we expect nothing but the very best when it comes to tactics, skills, strategy and use of specialised weapons.
Kamal Haasan has always had a special and a key role for the legendary Nagesh in his movies (the other usual collaborator with Kamal is actor Delhi Ganesh) and Nagesh who had always played a comical role has proved to be a very versatile actor with different roles with Kamal Haasan.
