Favourite Hindi Song 101: Saamne Hai Savera by Sajid-Wajid 2013

Saamne Hai Savera Music Hindi Sajid Wajid

This was one of the favourite Hindi songs some time ago – from the 2013 Hindi movie, Bullett Raja starring Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha. Image source: Youtube.

This Hindi song was composed by Sajid–Wajid music director duo consisting of brothers Sajid Khan and Wajid Khan and sung by Wajid and Shreya Ghoshal. The duo won numerous awards for their music composition for Salman Khan’s 2010 Hindi movie “Dabangg”.

Financial Express’ review of the soundtrack states this:-

The romantic track Saamne hai savera comes in next, with Shreya Ghoshal, Wajid and Bonny Chakraborthy as vocalists.

Although the song has a hangover of Chori kiya re jiya and Saanson ne baandhi hain from the Dabangg franchise; it is Ghoshals voice that clearly stands out.

Another interesting element is the use of several instruments, including the violin, trumpets, drums, iktara and even the ghatam.

The blend of these elements and well penned lyrics by Kausir Munir makes it the best track of the album.

The picturisation of the music video is of a reluctant hero who loves the heroine but does not want to say it out in the open. He rather wants to keep the heroine safe and protected. The heroine, on the other hand, is willing to go the extra mile in her relationship with the hero despite knowing his background as gangster dealing with corrupt businessmen and politicians (yup, this not logic romance only happens in Bollywood).

The same is imposed in the sequences of the song where it is the heroine who starts first and entices the hard rock hero who tries hard to avoid her but in the end, succumbs to her beauty and her calls and starts responding to the heroine.

The making of this music video is interesting as it gives us insight into the message that the director wanted to convey in the music video. The fun part is where they shoot the music video in double the normal speed and then playback with the normal speed so that it is in a relaxed, romantic atmosphere.

The scene with the classical dance is a nice touch with the break towards the hero and a change of colour in the song sequence.

And now the final work of the music video:-

It is said that the lyrics of the song is rather captivating in the original Hindi language which I would certainly concur.

A lot of Tamil song lyrics which had captured our hearts and souls had become meaningless once it is translated into English. I guess it is the same here:-

Zara zara sar se sarakne laga mera aasmaan
A little by little my sky is slipping away from above my head

Dabe dabe paanv nikalne laga tera raasta
Your road too is slipping away secretly

Tumko humara hai, humko tumhara vaasta
The relationships that we share together

O leke ek dooje ko baahon mein banayein apna jahaan
For that, let us make our own world holding and clasping each other’s hands

Saamne hai savera
Morning is in front of us

thoda tera, thoda mera
We both have a share in it equally

Haan saamne hai savera aa aa aa
Yes, the morning is front of us

Zara zara sar se sarakne laga mera aasmaan
A little by little my sky is slipping away from above my head

Seeya kaare seeya
O my beloved

Raina hai na hui hai dhuaan
My nights have become smoky

Dhuaan dhuaan dhuaan o dhuaan
Smoky, smoky

Chuaa tune chuaa
You touched me

Khill gaya mera har ruaan ruaan ruaan ruaan o ruaan
Every cell inside my body blossomed

Aaja dhup se daaman bhar lein
Come, let us fill our hem with the sunlight

Dil basaaye din nayaa chadhta huaa badhta huaa
Let’s settle our hearts in this new, rising and moving day

Samne hai savera thoda tera thoda mera
The morning is front of us, it’s a little yours and a little mine

Haule haule phir se dil mein naya armaan huaa
Slowly, once again my heart is building up new desires

Lagta hai mujhko lagne lagi teri duaa
It seems I am benefited from your prayers

Tumko humara hai, humko tumhara vaasta
The relationships that we share together

O leke ek dooje ko baahon mein
Holding and clasping each other’s hands

Banayein apna jahaan
Let us make our own world

Saamne hai savera thoda tera thoda mera
The morning is front of us, it’s a little yours and a little mine

Haan saamne hai savera
Yes, the morning is front of us
