Background of “Maragatha Naanayam”

“Maragatha Naanayam” revolves around the quest for a precious emerald, known as the “Maragatha Naanayam” (Emerald Coin).

The story revolves around a young man named Senguttuvan (played by Aadhi Pinisetty), who races to find a legendary treasure known as the Maragadha Naanayam. This precious artefact is a diamond moulded with golden metal, resembling a coin. According to the legend, the stone was given by a Goddess to a king for his penance, empowering him to fight against enemies and conquer other countries. The king eventually dies and places the stone in his tomb.

For many years, no one dared to take the stone due to fear of the king’s spirit. However, in 1990, someone defied this fear and took the Maragadha Naanayam from the tomb. Unfortunately, they met their demise because of the evil spirit of the king, known as “Irumbarazan”, which haunted them. A total of 132 people lost their lives in similar circumstances.

To safeguard themselves from Irumarazan’s wrath, Senguttuvan and his co-smuggler Ilango seek help from three ghosts (one of them played by the beautiful Nikki Galrani). These supernatural beings assist them in their quest to steal the highly valuable emerald artefact while avoiding its deadly curse

The film combines elements of fantasy, comedy, and adventure, making it a unique addition to the Tamil cinema landscape. The movie’s music, composed by Dhibu Ninan Thomas, played a crucial role in enhancing the overall experience for the audience.

The general theme of the song Nee Kavithaigala is sad as Chanakaya (played by Nikki Galrani) is Senguttuvan’s love interest in the movie and is married to an abusive, jealous husband. She commits suicide in the end but comes back to help Senguttuvan in his mission. The chemistry between Aadhi Pinisetty and Nikki Galrani is real as these two were deeply in love in real life and got married in real in 2022.

Review of the Song “Nee Kavithaigala”

“Nee Kavithaigala” is a soulful romantic song featured in “Maragatha Naanayam.” The song is composed by first time composer, Dhibu Ninan Thomas, with lyrics penned by Karky. The vocals are beautifully sung by Pradeep Kumar who had several hits singing for Santhosh Narayanan.

The song opens with a mesmerizing acoustic & bass guitar melody that immediately captures the listener’s attention. The gentle and melodic composition creates an enchanting atmosphere, perfectly complementing the romantic theme of the song.
