Kadhalan is a 1994 romantic thriller Tamil movie directed by S. Shankar starring Prabhu Deva and Nagma (in her major Tamil cinema debut) with supporting roles by Vadivelu, Raghuvaran, Girish Karnad, and S. P. Balasubrahmaniam.
The movie won many awards, including two South Filmfare Awards and four National Film Awards. The film’s soundtrack, composed by A. R. Rahman, was also highly acclaimed and sold over 2.5 million units in India.

The film was a huge commercial success and became the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2004. It also received positive reviews from critics and audiences for its fast-paced narration, thrilling action sequences and Vijay’s charismatic performance. Ghilli is considered to be one of the best films in Vijay’s career and a milestone in Tamil cinema.

The film is directed by Kalyaan and produced by KJR Studios. The film revolves around four characters who are on a quest to find a treasure hidden in the village of Gulaebaghavali.
The film is a remake of the 1955 Telugu film of the same name, which itself was inspired by the 1940 Hollywood film The Road to Singapore. The film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences but was praised for its comedy and music. The film was a moderate success at the box office, earning ₹25 crore against a budget of ₹15 crore.
