The Vedas—Rigveda, Samaveda, Yajurveda, and Atharvaveda—are the foundational scriptures of Hinduism, composed around 1500–1200 BCE. Believed to be divinely revealed (shruti, or “heard”), they were transmitted orally by Brahma to the sages (rishis) for humanity’s guidance.
