No short of ‘foot in the mouth’ statements from politicians. Malaysiakini reported:-
Hulu Selangor voters can express their gratitude for all that Dr Mahathir Mohamad had done for them by supporting BN on April 25, said Jerlun MP Mukhriz Mahathir.
This was laughable and probably tempting the sanity (and probably the intelligence) of voters in Hulu Selangor.
Dr Mahathir, no doubt, was a great leader and we truly appreciate it. He basically put Malaysia on the path of development and technology know-how. But then again, that was his duty – not charity, to do what he was supposed to do.
Otherwise, he cannot call himself the Prime Minister.
If he is not doing his job like how one sleeping PM did, he needs to be swiftly removed from his post and get someone who can do the job instead. Why should anyone express gratitude for something that needs to be done as part of their duty?
Dr Mahathir, whilst did many things that we can be proud of, also did things that put Malaysia and its people on the wrong side of the road – the erosion of the independence of the judiciary, the muddling of treatment of royalties, blatant promotion of cronyism, use of ISA and creation of unfair policies
Why can’t we also say these:-
Hulu Selangor voters can express their gratitude for all that Tuanku Abdul Rahman had done for them (for getting independence for the country) by supporting PR on April 25
Hulu Selangor voters can express their gratitude for all that (Tan Sri Datuk Amar) P Ramlee had done for them (for providing brilliant entertainment) by supporting PR on April 25
Hulu Selangor voters can express their gratitude for all that Vincent Chong Ying-Cern had done for them (for winning the first Akademi Fantasia) by supporting PR on April 25
Hulu Selangor voters can express their gratitude for all that Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor had done for them (for being the first Malaysian space tourist) by supporting PR on April 25
Hulu Selangor voters can express their gratitude for all that Petronas had done for them (for promoting the country in Formula 1) by supporting PR on April 25
Hulu Selangor voters can express their gratitude for all that Alexander Fleming had done for them (for discovering the penicillin) by supporting PR on April 25
Hulu Selangor voters can express their gratitude for all that the British had done for them (for helping to fight the communist in Malaya) by supporting PR on April 25
Hulu Selangor voters can express their gratitude for all that the Americans had done for them (for landing a man on the moon) by supporting PR on April 25
Please lah, there are much serious to be considered by the voters in Hulu Selangor than what the ex-PM has done for them and the country as a whole in the past (and mindful that what he did was not necessarily good for the country and people).
Many people may not know that much of the mess that we have to go through now is because of things that the ex-PM did in the past.
