When Tire Shops Are Closed
In the last 20 years or so, I had several instances of having the tires punctured due to nails or screws although it rarely happens these days, thanks to the quality of tires in the market. The worst incident of a puncture would be when I drove out for personal work lunchtime and had to park where no one dared to park and ended up with a nasty puncture. It’s a good thing I had parked the car in a space at a petrol station before checking the tires.

In the olden days, one could not fix a puncture yourself because you didn’t have the crucial tools namely the puncture patch and the metal to push the patch in. Further opening the wheel nuts is a nightmare considering it is often tightened at the workshops using a pneumatic nut driver. Things have changed these days as you can get almost anything online.

However, there are also disadvantages. Patch kits may not provide a permanent solution; the repaired item may not regain its original strength or functionality, leading to potential safety concerns. Although this video states that the puncture kits should be used as a temporary solution, the reality of things is that this is the same solution used by most tire shops and is considered the permanent solution (other than buying a new tire of course). It possible that these patch gets worn off and leaks air which may require double patches to be applied on the same puncture.
