It is said that as of 17th July 2021, based on the vaccination progress around the world, it is estimated that 1 billion people has been full vaccinated whilst 1.04 billion people have been partially vaccinated. The number of daily new COVID19 infections only has kept increasing with every day seeing the numbers recording new records.
As of 29th May 2021, Malaysia saw a new number of 9,020 COVID19 infections making a total of 558,534 COVID19 infections todate. Worst is the number of deaths – it was highest thus far at 98 deaths making a total of 2,650 deaths todate.

Today Malaysia recorded 6,075 new COVID19 infections, with 2,251 of the cases was from the State of Selangor which had continued to be the state with the highest number of cases for the last few months. Infographic source: Malay Mail.
It is said that there is a sudden increase in the number of cases due to the Selangor State Government’s initiation to open numerous testing centres in the state.
As of 11th May 2021, Malaysia saw 3,807 new infection cases with 3.454 cases recovered and 17 deaths. On the first day of MCO 3.0, the number went up to 4,765 new infections and 39 deaths. In total, we had 1,761 Malaysians died from COVID19 todate. Image source: MOH
It is said that as of 11th April 2021, more than 789 million people from 185 countries have undergone vaccination. Of which, United Kingdom is leading the pack with 47.32% of the population already been vaccinated closely followed by the US with 35.65%. Chart source: Our World In Data

It makes a lot of sense that vaccination for a major pandemic like COVID19 should not come from only one source. That is why most countries are looking at a cocktail of different vaccines from different manufacturers. In Malaysia, we are also looking at the different types of vaccines; spread over 3 main phases lasting till April 2022.

Globally the total number of COVID19 infection cases has arisen more than 86 million cases with 1.9 million deaths with the US remained in the lead with 21 million cases and more than 360,000 cases.
(The rather empty departure terminal at Phnom Penh airport in Cambodia and it is the same case, most airports around the world. Most of the duty-free shops were opened but sadly there were no customers. The lone guy at Starbucks was practically begging passengers to come in to have coffee)
