I don’t why but I recall the good old 80’s as I sat in front of the laptop doing work and listening to A-Ha’s “Take on me”.… [Click to read the rest] “Childhood Memories: Part 16 – Great Groovy 1980s Music”

Fantastic Trip to Iran 2009: Sorry, No Alcoholic Beers Here

beer non alcohol iran

(It looks like beer, it smells like beer and the people are drinking as it is beer but certainly it is not beer. Great stuff from Holland!)

Iran, I guess is the second country that I have been to without any drop of cold beer. Brunei was the other country although I could have brought a crate of beer after declaring to the customs.… [Click to read the rest] “Fantastic Trip to Iran 2009: Sorry, No Alcoholic Beers Here”

Nearing 50,000 words

I am sorry for not writing very regularly for the blog.

It is just that I have been busy with work and during the night and on the weekends, I have been “burning the midnight oil” on my novel for the NaNoWriMo 2009. Since I have been concentrating all my free times on this venture, as at todate I have completed almost 92% of the 50,000 words which was required to win the NaNoWriMo 2009 and I still have another 8 days to complete the balance 8% words.… [Click to read the rest] “Nearing 50,000 words”

Fantastic Trip to Iran 2009: Trip to ‘Chilly’ Restaurant

Chinese restaurant tanglung

(One good sign that it is a Chinese restaurant is red lights and tang-lungs on the inside and on the outside. By the way, Chilly in Iran means Chinese)

From day 1 after we had arrived here, we have been looking for a cheap Chinese restaurant and thus far, we have been unsuccessful.… [Click to read the rest] “Fantastic Trip to Iran 2009: Trip to ‘Chilly’ Restaurant”

2012 & 4 Yugas

In my earlier post on 2012, it was stated that the Hindus believed that there will be a golden year within Kali Yuga. But what is Kali Yuga anyway.

From About Hinduism:-

According to Hindu scriptures, all mortal beings are destined to pass through four great epochs in every cycle of creation and destruction.

Fantastic Trip to Iran 2009: Time To Be A DIY Chef Part 2

chef food iran

(Another item on the chef’s list is a cooked chicken cocktail with fried eggs and a good dose of Maggi sauce – not healthy, I know but who cares?)

Lately, we have been finding harder to get by without having a good dose of vegetables – going for the ‘big job’ has not been as smooth as it used to be.… [Click to read the rest] “Fantastic Trip to Iran 2009: Time To Be A DIY Chef Part 2”

Movie Review: The Lost City

If one is surprised with Joaquin Phoenix singing and playing guitar in “Walk the Line”, one will get more surprised to note that Andy Garcia is also music director for his movie “The Lost City”

The Plot

Read the details of the plot here

(The closing scene of the movie where Andy manages to escape to America and opens his own night club)

It was reported that it took almost 16 years for this story, written by a Cuban novelist and it deals with Cuba before and after the revolution and the aftermath of it when Fidel Castro takes over the Cuban administration.… [Click to read the rest] “Movie Review: The Lost City”

Morally Wrong, Legally Clean

Remember the quote – “it looks like me, it sounds like me but it is not me” from a character called VK Lingam? Well, there are not limits to what Malaysian politicians can do to top such stupid statements.

(Morally wrong is ok not matter how serious it is! says the self appointed clown Minister in Parliament)

Malaysiakini reported the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz as saying that what VK Lingam did was “morally wrong but he was legally clean”.… [Click to read the rest] “Morally Wrong, Legally Clean”

Movie Review: Walk the Line 2005

walk the line movie

Over the weekends, I watched two movies back to back – one was “The Lost City” starring and directed by Andy Garcia and another was “Walk the Line” starring Joaquin Phoenix. Image source: IMDB

I have heard about Johnny Cash but never bothered to listen to his songs – I guess it is an oldie for me but the movie “Walk the Line” changed my whole perception about the man and the music from the ’60s onwards.… [Click to read the rest] “Movie Review: Walk the Line 2005”
