The room was dark and cold…I could almost feel that there is someone else in the room. Welcome to the world of the Exorcist: The Beginning (read the plot summary here)

My advice to those who have not watched this movie yet, drop whatever you are doing now and go and see the movie. Poster source: IMDB.
The story, although nothing new (the story of a son growing up to avenge the death of his parents – you can find plenty of such stories in Tamil & Hindi movies), is beautifully crafted with witty dialogues thrown in.

(Sivakasi with Hema – “relationship” that only can be made in the Tamil movies and Sivakasi making his “explosive” entrance – Picture source: Amazon)
It was a lazy afternoon, a couple of days ago when we decided to head out to see a movie. I am not a big fan of Tamil Movies but being curious, we decided to see “Sivakasi” starring Vijay (heard a lot of this movie from my cousins).… [Click to read the rest] “Tamil Movie Review: Sivakasi 2005, Funny And Engaging Movie”
Tailgating – some idiots do it on a daily basis. Image source: The Sun
They have little consideration on the safety of others. Anyone who saw this advertisement in Astro must have appreciated the great message that the advertisement was trying to convey – don’t tailgate. But a quick look at the advertisement reveals other important lessons too.

Before anyone presses the panic button, let me assure you that I am not down with any dengue fever. I have been hit with a “Bing & Bong” fever. They are the characters from children serial “Tiny Planets”.
The symptoms (finger automatically pressing on channel 63 at about 9.54 pm and humming Tiny Planets theme song when I am taking shower) started last 2 weeks when I watching my son’s favorite kiddies shows when I realized he was almost silent, concentrating almost 101% on the show that was on the TV…”Tiny Planets”
The scenario is pretty simple:-

I was watching the movie “Flavors” at Astro couple of days ago and I must say that it was a refreshing Indian Movie. Made entirely outside India, it was a story of Indian staying and working in US and showing different but inter-related sub stories.
War of the worlds is a classic story by H.G. Wells (mind you, it came out in 1898!) but how much difference that Steven Spielberg can make in his remake movie in 2005? That was the thought running through my mind when I saw the movie showing at my local theatre. Image source: Movieclips.com
After hearing about the movie and seeing that it got an “A” rating in The Star, I and my wife set aside our Sunday to see the movie.

President Bush’s administration policies have been whacked left right and centre by the anti-Bush supporters. The worst has been his decisions in Iraq.
Let’s look at this “president” – from the series “The West Wing” created by Aaron Sorkin

Last week, my wife and I were at IOI Mall to see the latest Tamil movie “Anniyan” starring Vikram and directed by Shankar (picture source: www.hindu.com).
Frankly speaking, I don’t normally watch Tamil movies in cinemas unless it is a really good movie. I rather spend my good RM18.00 (that’s expensive for some) on some sci-fi movies (like Star Wars or the Matrix).
Anniyan, however, was a good movie, with the underlying message on corruption & bribery and the characters were well played on except for the part where the director decided to use elements from the movie “Matrix” for the fighting scene. That left a bitter taste on my tongue

Some people can write well…I mean they can write really, really well. They can stir up our emotions. They can reach deep down into our conscience. At times, they can make us think critically and act positively.
One such person is Brendan Pereira who wrote an excellent article in the NST last week.
