Working Abroad

(Day 27 in Kabul)

Being far away from home on an assignment is like being on a ship far away from the shore.

There is water everywhere and no land on sight for miles. After a month or so, the feeling being lonely and boredom kicks in and this is compounded by the same old food that is provided in the morning, afternoon and in the evening. You want to jump and swim towards home but unfortunately you can’t. You are in the middle of no where!

You have a job to do and all you want is to complete it professionally. Going home may not be so sweet if things are left hanging half way. Thoughts of the loved ones are always on the mind, haa probably even motivating you to do a good job and sail back home.

Ya, I am feeling a little depressed but I guess it is all part of the day’s job
