When I was small, one of my favourite sci-fi TV series was Battlestar Galactica and one part of the series that I liked was the Viper “space superiority fighter”. The kids in the neighbourhood loved it so much that they incorporated the “turbo boost” into our daily evening play.

When one is playing “catching”, to run faster, one would shout “turbo boost” and start running faster. Often we imagine ourselves as the battle-hardened pilots of Viper.

There was once when a classmate of mine brought a model of the Cyclops Raider spacecraft to school and whilst we were having an assembly in the school hall, many of us took the opportunity to hold another iconic model from the series.

We wished the schoolmate had brought the Viper model instead.

Until then “turbo boost”…
