Movie Review 101: Star Wars 1977: The Force is Strong with This One

The Star Movie channel over Astro been showing all the in the Star Wars trilogy and last Sunday was the screening of Episode IV (Episodes V & VI will be shown in this week and thereafter). This is not the first time I am watching all the 6 movies โ€“ I probably have watched Episode IV about 20 times (or more!) and the rest between 10 โ€“ 15 times โ€“ ya, I am one crazy Star Wars fan. But despite that, it still feels exciting whenever I see on screen a fights with a light saber or R2D2 arguing with C3PO – the โ€œForceโ€ has made a strong impact on many of us.

The first Star Wars movie (Episode IV) came out in 1977 at the time when I was just 4 years old โ€“ too young to understand what the โ€œForceโ€ means.

Movie Review: Brilliant, Fast Paced Lucky Number Slevin 2006

The story, although nothing new (the story of a son growing up to avenge the death of his parents โ€“ you can find plenty of such stories in & Hindi ), is beautifully crafted with witty dialogues thrown in.

Tamil Movie Review: 7 Groups of Movie Viewers You Will See in Cinema

Last week, my wife and I were at IOI Mall to see the latest โ€œAnniyanโ€ starring Vikram and directed by Shankar (picture source: www.hindu.com).

Frankly speaking, I don’t normally watch Tamil in cinemas unless it is a really good movie. I rather spend my good RM18.00 (that’s expensive for some) on some sci-fi movies (like Star Wars or the Matrix).

Anniyan, however, was a good movie, with the underlying message on corruption & bribery and the characters were well played on except for the part where the director decided to use elements from the movie โ€œMatrixโ€ for the fighting scene. That left a bitter taste on my tongue
