The next 3 parts in this series would be on the various dishes ordered online using delivery services from Foodpanda in Cambodia, a true blessing in disguise for those working late and do not want to be walking around looking for food in time of a major pandemic. Photo by Erik Mclean from Pexels

Perhaps it was a blessing disguise but back in March when the lockdown in place, we had no choice but to start ordering food, grocery, vegetables, etc online and names like Foodpanda, Grab, Lazada and yes, McDelivery was fast becoming a household name. Before March, we had never had to order online for food because we either cook dishes at home or just drive out to “tapau” from outside.

Kingdom of Cambodia 2020: Part 8 – A Great Delicious Malaysian Lunch At Café Malaya

(Is there something called the perfect lunch? In Cambodia, this probably be the case with a good dose of sambal with sizable prawns, fish, chicken, vegetables and yes, the good old kangkung and this is a buffet so we can go for another round)

After the end of our self-isolation and getting down to our real work in Cambodia, we by now have established a routine when it comes to having our lunch at our workplace. Since the cost of food is not cheap here as compared to back in Malaysia, we had to be rather picky when it comes to having a good lunch but without burning a hole in our pockets. (The fried noodles for breakfast is nothing new for me – I often have the same for breakfast back in Malaysia too. However, I appreciate the breakfast here as they provide a lot of vegetables even for breakfast and these vegetable dishes were well prepared indeed).

Continuing the Cambodia adventure, this post will be on breakfast as we started our self-isolation for 14 days and on the 13th day, we suppose to go for our 2nd COVID19 test. That will determine if we will be free to go on to work on our project in Phnom Penh or get stranded in a Government Hospital until we are free of the COVID19 virus.

Food 101: Neighbourhood Burger Stall, Savouring Delicious Burgers

Burger Stall Fast Food

The healthiness of a burger can vary widely based on its ingredients and preparation. While a burger can be a good source of protein and iron, it is often high in saturated fats and calories, contributing to heart disease and obesity if consumed in excess. Additionally, frequent consumption of burgers, especially from burger stalls, has been associated with increased cholesterol levels and a higher risk of cardiovascular diseases. However, a burger can be part of a balanced diet when made with lean meat and healthy toppings. It’s important to consider the overall dietary pattern and how a burger fits it. Photo by Rajesh TP

Overseas Assignment 2007: Flying into Dangerous Kabul Again?

kabul

This is what was going in my mind now as I am sitting in my office on a Saturday night, pondering over an issue that my colleague in Kabul have just sent me over the email. Image source: Politico Magazine

The matter was not on the issue but more disturbing was another email  – from the client’s CEO to my big boss requesting me to be assigned to Kabul to help out on the system. Flattering I must say that the client’s CEO added the word “competent staff” but as much as I wanted to go, there are other factors running through my mine now.
