Overseas Assignment 2012: Myanmar Adventure Part 3 – Terrible Food Poisoning

Myanmar Food Poison

This will be the final part of the series where it all went wrong for me in Myanmar and for something I dreaded from the beginning of the trip and whenever I am away from the comfort of home – food poisoning. To be frank, one cannot run away from an upset stomach when travelling overseas namely due to hygiene and cooking methods which will be different from what one has at home.

Overseas Assignment 2012: Myanmar Adventure Part 2 – Great Burmese Meal

Napyitaw Naypyidaw Myanmar Expressway 20 lanes

Probably taking a leaf from our own Putrajaya, Napyitaw or Naypyidaw is Myanmar’s administration city which is located about 370 kilometres from Yangon. It has the very famous, 20 lane roads in Myanmar which do not make sense considering there are hardly any vehicles in the city. Based on the estimates in the Google Map, driving from Yangon to Naypyidaw, Myanmar using the expressway will take a gruelling 4 hours and 40 minutes. Sekinchan, Paddy, Waterway, Green

It was also one of the few trips that will take us a day to go and come back home and yet still be able to do some activities. It is cheaper as we don’t have to book any accommodations so we can use the cash for something else.

Personal Trip 101: One Day Drive To Lush Green Sekinchan Part 1

Sekinchan Paddy Field Green

It was the last day of the Deepavali week and at the very last minute, we decided to take a break away from home and go for a short drive out of the town to Sekinchan. Before that, we were considering several options for a quick, one day drive which included Sepang Gold Coast but Sekinchan which is famous for the lush green paddy field, fisherman village and great seafood restaurants seems to be a better place to go.

Mandatory Quarantine 2020: Part 6 – Glorious Malaysian Quarantine Meals (3)

Food Quarantine

This will probably be the last post on quarantine food for the obvious reason – the rest of the menu was more or so a mix of the previous meals. I guess this is due to the control of the meal by the Ministry of Health and not left to the creativity of the hotel chefs (but then again it could be worse).

Another reason for having a similar dish served on a daily basis was probably is the cost factor. Having limited menu would probably make it easy for the hotel to plan their purchases and prepare the meals.
